MTDA trial usage.
Approved for a trial? This page takes you from the installer to your first customer-ready drawing — install, AutoCAD setup, daily use, and exactly what the trial does and does not include.
Before you start — have these ready
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- Full AutoCAD installed (not AutoCAD LT — LT cannot load add-ins)
- An internet connection for licence activation
- Your trial licence key from the approval email
Installing the tool.
MTDA ships as a plain Windows installer (.exe). No command line, no dependencies to hunt down — download, double-click, done in a few minutes.
Download the installer from your approval email
When your trial is approved you receive a licence key and a download link. Use that link — it always points at the current trial build. The file is a Windows installer (.exe).
Run the .exe
Double-click the downloaded file. Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” since we’re new — click More info, then Run anyway. The installer is built by NTS and scanned clean.
Follow the installer
Accept the defaults unless your IT policy says otherwise. The installer places MTDA where AutoCAD can find it and creates a desktop shortcut. If it asks for anything extra (such as a runtime component), let it install — it is required.
Launch MTDA once before opening AutoCAD
Open MTDA from the desktop shortcut and let it finish its first launch. This registers its components so the AutoCAD link in step 2 works first time.
Lost your download link? Reply to the approval email or write to mail@ntechnosolution.com from your registered company address and we will re-issue it.
AutoCAD link & licence.
Two things to connect: your licence key (proves the trial is yours) and AutoCAD (where the drawings land). Ten minutes here saves every headache later.
Copy your licence key
Find the approval email and copy the full licence key. Copy it exactly — no extra spaces before or after. Keys are tied to your company, so one trial per company.
Paste the key into MTDA
In MTDA, open the Licence section and paste your key, then activate. You should see a confirmation that the trial is active with its expiry date. No confirmation means no trial — do not skip this check.
Connect AutoCAD
With full AutoCAD installed on the same machine, load the MTDA link from inside MTDA (first launch registers it automatically). Open AutoCAD afterwards — the MTDA commands should be available. If AutoCAD does not see MTDA, close both programs, right-click the MTDA shortcut, choose “Run as administrator”, and launch once more.
Run the verification drawing
Before touching real work, generate one sample drawing with default parameters and send it to AutoCAD. If a dimensioned drawing lands on your title block, setup is done and you can trust the pipeline.
If something misbehaves
“Invalid key” on activation
You almost certainly copied a leading or trailing space. Paste into Notepad first, check, then copy from there.
AutoCAD does not list MTDA commands
MTDA was not launched once before AutoCAD, or bitness/permissions blocked registration. Launch MTDA as administrator, then reopen AutoCAD.
Works on one PC but not another
Trial licences are per company but activated per machine. Email us and we will move or extend the activation.
Using the tool.
Every drawing follows the same four moves: parameters in, generate, send to AutoCAD, export. Learn it once on a sample, then run it on live enquiries.
Enter parameters
Pick the tool family — drill, step drill, reamer, end mill, standard or special — then enter diameters, lengths, flute count, point and back-taper geometry. MTDA validates ranges as you type so impossible values get caught before a drawing exists.
Generate
Hit generate. MTDA builds the full proposal drawing from your parameters in under a minute: geometry, dimensions and layout, on your own title-block template. Use Proposal mode for customer-approval drawings and Blank mode when you want clean geometry to detail yourself.
Send it to AutoCAD
One command draws the complete drawing directly inside AutoCAD — fully editable native entities, no import cleanup, no exploded blocks to repair. It lands on your template, so your borders, title block and layers are exactly as your customers expect.
Export and share
Export DXF for any CAD system, or send a PDF preview to customers who do not run AutoCAD. (3D STEP export is a paid-licence feature and is switched off during the trial — see limits below.)
Tips for your evaluation
Start from a real past enquiry — regenerate a drawing you already quoted by hand. Comparing the two is the fastest way to judge MTDA.
Use Proposal mode for anything a customer will see; Blank mode is faster when the drawing stays in-house.
Keep your title-block template path fixed during the trial. Moving it mid-trial breaks the link MTDA registered at install.
Change one parameter at a time when exploring a new tool family, so you learn which inputs drive which geometry.
Limits, and how to squeeze the trial dry.
The trial is the real tool with guardrails — enough to prove value on your own work, fenced so it cannot quietly become production. Here are the fences, and how to get maximum proof inside them.
One trial per company
The trial is an evaluation for the whole company, not per person. Share one machine or ask us about a second seat.
Time-boxed
Trials run for a limited period shown in your approval email. When it lapses, MTDA stops generating until a paid licence is added.
No 3D STEP export
2D drawings, DXF and PDF are fully enabled. STEP export of the 3D solid becomes available with a paid licence.
Drawing caps
Weekly and monthly generation limits apply so one trial cannot run production. They reset automatically — if you hit one mid-evaluation, email us and we will review it.
Time-saving plays for the trial window
Quote while the enquiry is hot
The drawing your team spends half a day on generates while you read the enquiry. Same-day proposals win special-tool orders.
Kill redraw loops
Customer asks for a diameter change? Edit the parameter, regenerate — don’t redimension by hand. Every revision costs seconds, not hours.
Standardise output
Every MTDA drawing comes off the same template with the same layer and dimension discipline, whoever clicked generate. Approval drawings stop depending on who drew them.
MTDA is a drafting aid, not a design authority. Every drawing is generated from the values you enter. You remain responsible for checking geometry, dimensions and tolerances against your own standards and your customer's requirements before a drawing is issued or manufactured. See the Terms & Conditions.
Asked on every trial.
What do I send for my drawing template?
Your AutoCAD template (.dwt) or a sample drawing (.dwg) that has your title block, your layers, your text and dimension styles, and your logo. If you have several formats (for example by customer or sheet size), send each one. We set MTDA up to draw on it and tell you when it is ready, usually within a few working days. If you send nothing, drawings use the standard NTS template, and you can send yours at any time later.
Do I need AutoCAD running to install MTDA?
No — install MTDA first, launch it once, then open AutoCAD. That order is what registers the link cleanly.
Will MTDA change my AutoCAD templates?
No. MTDA draws onto your title-block template and never edits the template file itself. We need your template to set this up for you; if you do not supply one, drawings use the standard NTS template.
My trial expired mid-evaluation. Now what?
Email mail@ntechnosolution.com. If you were actively evaluating, we will usually extend it once rather than let the decision stall.
Can I trust trial drawings for real quotations?
Yes, with the same check you would apply to any drawing: verify geometry, dimensions and tolerances before issuing. MTDA drafts fast, but you remain the design authority — see the trial Terms & Conditions.
No trial key yet?
Request one — reviewed by a person, usually within 1–2 working days. Stuck on a step above? Talk to an engineer.
