MTDA · Machine Tool Drawing Automation
MTDA is our parametric drawing engine for cutting tools. Enter the diameters, lengths and flute geometry; it builds the 3D model, produces the dimensioned proposal drawing, and sends it straight into AutoCAD — on your template.
- Drill · step drill · reamer · end mill
- Customisable to your title block and conventions
Generated by MTDA
Every tool, real size
Parameters in. The drawing you’d have drawn, out.
MTDA carries the geometry rules for cutting tools — how the point is formed, where the margin sits, how the flute runs — so the same inputs always produce the same tool and the same sheet, whoever runs it.
Drill · step drill · reamer · end mill
Standard or special. Point and flute geometry, margin and body clearance, back taper, neck and reinforcement — up to two steps on step drills.
2D drawing + 3D model + STEP
One run produces the dimensioned proposal sheet, a watertight solid you can open anywhere, and a STEP file. PDF too, for customers without AutoCAD.
One command into AutoCAD
Draws the complete title-block drawing on your own template — views, dimensions, annotations, all editable. No file import, no cleanup.
Under a minute
The approval drawing your team spends half a day on, generated while you read the enquiry.
MTDA is customised to you.
Out of the box it draws to a clean default. Every shop has its own drawing standard and its own way of defining tool geometry — so we tune it before you go live.
Your drawing standard
Your title block, layer names, dimension styles and default tolerances. The output looks like your drawing office made it.
Your geometry rules
Margin percentages, clearance values, back-taper scope, point styles — set to how your shop actually grinds tools.
Or a generator for another part
MTDA is one build of a parametric drawing engine. The same approach fits any product family you draw repeatedly.
If you draw the same tool types every week.
Not sure it fits? Send us one of your tool drawings and we’ll tell you honestly.
Send us a drawingSpecial & regrind tool manufacturers
Every enquiry needs an approval drawing before it can be quoted. MTDA produces it from the tool spec in the time it takes to read the RFQ.
Tool-design departments
Standardises how drills, reamers and end mills are drawn across the team — same geometry, same sheet, every time.
Tooling distributors & agents
Turn a customer’s dimensions into a professional drawing on your letterhead the same day, without a CAD operator.

What is machine tool drawing automation?
+
It is generating the dimensioned customer drawing for a cutting tool straight from its specification, instead of drafting it by hand. With MTDA you type the diameters, lengths, point and flute geometry, and it builds the 3D model and draws the complete proposal sheet.
Which cutting tools can MTDA draw?
+
Twist drills, step drills with up to two steps, reamers, and end mills: flat, ball nose and bull nose. Standard or special, including point and flute geometry, margins, back taper, neck and reinforcement.
Does it work with AutoCAD?
+
Yes. One command draws the full title-block drawing inside AutoCAD, with every view, dimension and annotation editable. It also exports DXF, PDF for customers without AutoCAD, and a STEP model.
Can the drawings use our own template and standards?
+
Yes. Send us your title block, layer names, dimension styles and default tolerances, and MTDA draws on your format. Without a template it uses the standard NTS sheet.
Does MTDA support inch drawings?
+
Yes. A tool specified in inches is drawn and dimensioned in inches.
How do I try it?
+
Request a free trial. Every request is reviewed by an engineer, usually within 1–2 working days, and you get a licence key by email. MTDA runs on Windows.
